Our hormones play a critical part in almost every aspect of healthy human function. From metabolism and appetite, to digestion, weight, sleep, mood and fertility, our bodies are constantly producing the hormones they need to keep us in a state of ‘homeostatis’, or continual balance.
All sorts of factors can tip that balance. Underlying health conditions and certain medications can of course have an impact, but lifestyle issues such as poor nutrition, stress, too much or too little exercise, and exposure to everyday chemicals and toxins, also play a huge part.
